Reciprocal links are important. Besides more visitors from the links, the search engines give more importance to web sites having lots of incoming links. We will both benefit if we have links to each other's web sites.

It doesn't do you any good to set up links if the search engines never find them. You can submit the pages that link to you, but most search engines nowadays won't index them unless there are other links to those pages somewhere on the web. Consider adding a "resources" page, linked from your home page, to your other website with links to all the individual pages that link to you.

Avoid Link Spamming

Link spamming is the technique of artificially increasing the link popularity of a web site in order to influence its ranking in search engines.

Excessive direct reciprocal links on your pages can be considered by search engines as "link spamming". Search engine spiders are now able to view incoming and outgoing links and determine reciprocation. They consider it to be the artificial inflation of link popularity. Use one-way links where possible with back links from another website. Besides, reciprocal links pages should not be more in number that the pages with content.

Do not name your pages "links"

A popular format for featuring links from link exchanges is a links page. In non-dynamic format, most of these web pages have file names of links.html, links.htm, links.asp and so on.

Recently news came out that Google no longer counts links that appear in pages that contain these file names. According to SearchEngineRoundtable.com, "the theory is that Google is no longer counting links from pages that have the file name links.htm, links.html, links.php, links.asp, links.cfm and the like."

A method of going around this odd policy is to not name your links pages with the link.html filename anymore. SERT recommends using the filename of resources.html or something similar to that.

Speculation around this practice is that Google values links appearing naturally within web pages more highly. Google may have enacted this policy to prevent link spamming, as well.

One of the methods that search engines use to determine the raking for your site, is by counting the number of links to your site from other pages. Obviously the more links there are to your site, the higher it will be ranked. So how do you get links to your site from mine? There are two ways to get listed in the Translation Resources Directory or other Web Resources and links pages:

If your listing is made on a reciprocal basis I will check the link from your website periodically and I fail to see it your listing can be removed. I review every suggested site personally so please allow some time for your URL to be added.

To get listed just follow these simple steps:

Copy the code from the appropriate box and, using a text editor, incorporate it into your web page. Attention! Do NOT use a WYSIWYG editor, word processor, Microsoft FrontPage or Netscape Composer to manage this code. Those programs will modify or corrupt it and your link will not work properly. ONLY use a text editor or other program in text-only mode.

Conditions of links exchange

Your listing will be included once I verify the exchange link on one of your pages. Your link will appear not at russiantranslation.ru but at another domain with the same PageRank (see here what PageRank is and how you can determine it). It is necessary to avoid direct reciprocation and link spamming.

Please note, I am not interested in the link placed on a non-relevant page, such links are ignored by search engines. So we can exchange links if you have a relevant link page or are willing to create one. Google PageRank of the page with my link should be 3 or more. If you are not sure what PageRank your page has check it here. Besides, links on your link pages must be regular HTML links, not .php?cid=... In any other case your request will be rejected.
